In 8th grade, LaRita Jacobs wrote a funny speech with a message, entered a
public speaking contest, and won third place. This accomplishment taught LaRita a lifelong lesson—humor and learning go together!
Today, LaRita has more than 15 years experience as an inspirational, humorous, and engaging speaker.
When diagnosed with debilitating psoriatic arthritis in her early 30s, LaRita, like most people, had no understanding of managing a chronic illness. After a long bout of angry denial, she began researching how to live well with autoimmune disease.
Balancing her roles as a college professor, journalist, wife, and mother gave LaRita passion for reclaiming her life. Soon, LaRita began coaching others on the journey of living with life-changing autoimmune disease. Today, LaRita partners with healthcare professionals, patients, and complementary medicine professionals to understand current arthritis research and share that information with others.
With her signature “I Can Count on One Hand” program, LaRita creates and delivers exciting, customized programs for workshops, conferences, wellness centers, and hospitals.
Popular topics include “5 Steps for Great Communication with your Healthcare Provider”, and “5 Opportunities when Chronic Illness Impacts the Family” for patients,
and
“5 Things Your Patients Aren’t Telling You” and “5 Attributes Your Patients Love About You” for healthcare providers.
